Agricultural Waste Collection and Recycling
In addition to the renewable energy generated by the plant, Warrens Emerald Biogas produces a valuable biofertiliser derived from the waste treatment process.
The resultant digestate, which is made up of nitrogen, phosphate and potash, is high in nutrients and readily absorbed by crops.
Warrens Emerald Biogas supplies land owners within a ten-mile radius of the plant.

Rendering
Animal by-products are defined as entire bodies or parts of animals, products of animal origin or other products obtained from animals, which are not intended for human consumption.
The animal by-products that we collect from farms, butchers, abattoirs and meat manufacturing facilities by law, must be kept out of the food chain.
At rendering facilities, valuable resources, including tallow, which is a form of fat, as well as meat and bone meal are produced. Depending upon the source of these materials their end use can range from pet foods and biofuels, to fertilisers, and soap and organic chemicals.
Anaerobic Digestion...
Anaerobic Digestion (AD) is a natural biological process that uses micro-organisms to break down organic matter to produce valuable renewable resources such as bio-fertiliser and power.
At Emerald Biogas, we currently process up to 115,000 tonnes of food waste and organic based material to produce gas and electricity which is supplied directly to the national grid and a PAS110 approved bio-fertiliser.
We are conscious that the environmental benefit of supplying our bio-fertiliser to farmers can be eroded by transportation. So we have committed to supplying our product exclusively to the local farming community close to our facility.
