Renewable energy projects in the UK
Following the latest press release this morning, twelve new renewable energy projects will be powering over 7 million homes at record low prices thanks to the latest round of the government’s flagship Contracts for Difference scheme.
The new projects and lower prices are another step toward to decarbonising our energy system as we work toward net zero emissions by 2050, creating up to 8,000 jobs and economic opportunities across the UK.
This is a fantastic move in the right direction and here at Warrens Group we are proud to be contributing towards the powering of homes around UK. On average we collect 115,000 tonnes of food waste every year, waste that would otherwise be destined for landfill or incineration, to generate over 100 million kWh of clean green renewable energy. Enough to power 19,000 homes. And this figure is only set to increase!
By the end of the next two decades, it is predicted that renewables will provide most of the world’s electric power, with wind, solar and other renewable energy sources gaining ground at a faster pace than any fuel through human history. Now that’s something worth talking about!
