Our Commitment
We are dedicated to working in partnership with the public sector and private companies towards the ultimate goal of reducing food waste and tackling food poverty.
We believe that a sustainable business is a better business, and our guiding principles continue to help us support businesses, organisations and communities around the environmental issues caused by traditional methods of waste disposal.
Nothing is wasted, using biotechnology to treat food waste and organic materials, we create clean energy products such as heat, electricity, transport fuel and biofertiliser in a safe, secure and environmentally friendly way at our purpose-built anaerobic digestion facility (the North East’s first).
But that’s not all.
As part of our ongoing efforts to create clean energy sources, we take great pride in creating opportunities for the lives and communities around us on a daily basis. We recognise that we can make the most difference at a local level, working with schools and charities in the region to sustain a brighter future for all.
No act of kindness is ever wasted...
Breakfast Clubs with a difference...
We are making it our mission to make a difference to lives of local school children in our local area.
Common in the UK and expanding around the world, Breakfast clubs enrich children’s lives with healthy food options, providing time to socialise and extra academic support.
Proud partners of the Greggs Foundation, we work together to facilitate a series of school breakfast clubs in the North East of England, including clubs at Marchbank Free School, Darlington and St. Andrew’s School, Bishop Auckland. With our time and contribution, these schools are provided with the resources needed to offer fresh food daily and enable safe and dependable pre-school care to children of time-pressed and financially stressed working parents.
“We believe all children should have the opportunity to start the day with a nutritious breakfast.” – Lynne Hindmarch, Breakfast Club Manager, Greggs Foundation
Ready, Set, Go... The Warrens Durham Dash
Promoting positive lifestyle choices for local schoolchildren and their families is something that Warrens Group is very passionate about. Launched in 2012 and inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Warrens Durham Dash! is a series of athletics events for primary school children, championed by Warrens Group and many other like-minded local businesses. This initiative encourages health and wellbeing and raises awareness for tackling food poverty. Since the events’ inception in 2012, the initiative has gone from strength to strength.
“Encouraging an active lifestyle from an early age is really important. We are passionate about focusing our attention on inspiring the next generation”
Funding a Future...
…For our children's education
Warrens Group recognises that from time to time, there are families that need support during their child’s education when faced with unforeseen ‘barriers to learning’. We are committed to offering a helping hand to people when they need it most within our local region.
…For our farming community
To ensure that we can be a part of the change to improve, enrich and sustain the lives of those around us, we work closely with RABI, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution - a welfare charity - to offer support to farming people in hardship of all ages.
“Working hard to build resilience within our local community”
A helping hand to improve Mental Health...
It is a known fact that physical activity can have a profound and positive impact on people’s mental health and with male suicides being at an all-time high, the team at Warrens Group are passionate about continually raising awareness and keeping the conversation going through a series of fundraising activites to let everyone know that there is always someone out there willing to listen and help.
“In coming weeks Warrens Group will be pulling on their walking boots, packing their rucksacks and taking part in a sponsored walk along the beautiful cliff tops of the North East coastline for our chosen charity, The Samaritans.
We have also pledged to match the total amount of money raised for the #WarrensWalk to give it to another initiative close to our hearts - The Greggs Foundation – as part our ongoing commitment to those around us and our future generations.”
